Originally from New Jersey, Ruth Cohen moved to Las Vegas in 1977 to serve as a Deputy District Attorney with the Clark County District Attorney's Office. One of the first women hired by that office, she was also one of the first 100 women admitted to the Nevada bar. One year later, she again made history by being the first women ever hired by the United States Attorney's Office to serve as a federal prosecutor in Nevada.
The first time she argued a case to a jury in 1977, Ms. Cohen knew it was exactly where she was meant to be. Referred to by Las Vegas investigative reporter George Knapp as “the formidable Cohen,” and profiled in publications such as Fortune Magazine and Nevada Lawyer, Ruth Cohen has a reputation for calling it as she sees it and has never been known to stand silent in the face of injustice. Standing up for those who cannot stand up for themselves is why she went to law school in the first place.
During the span of her career, she has served as either lead counsel or co-counsel in approximately 100 jury trials. All of that experience taught her one important fact, every case, no matter how big or small, is the most important case in the world to those involved. In the American courtroom, trial is where justice is done. The courtroom is not a forum for on the job training or second-best efforts. Whether you have been injured by the negligence of another, victimized by sexual harassment or discrimination or you are the subject of a government investigation, you need someone in your corner that will fight hard for your rights and not be afraid to take on those responsible.
The harsh realities of life touch everyone. Ruth Cohen understands the pain of experiencing a personal injury or being the victim of discriminatory conduct. While Cohen & Padda can never guarantee a particular result in a case, it can however promise you that as a client you will always be treated with dignity and respect as the firm fights aggressively to represent your legal interests. Ms. Cohen is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in Nevada.
