Erik's litigation experience focuses on complex commercial cases, class action disputes, novel regulatory matters, and complex appeals. Erik has had involvement in several aspects of the litigation process in federal and state courts, including preparing expert depositions, interviewing witnesses, managing electronic discovery, and arguing appeals. His drafting experience includes pleadings, class certification papers, dispositive motions, pretrial orders, post-trial memoranda, and appellate briefs.
Before joining Jones Day, Erik was the 2005-2006 Simon Karas Fellow, serving as assistant solicitor in the Ohio Attorney General's Office. During his fellowship, he authored portions of the briefs and helped prepare for oral argument in a case before the United States Supreme Court (DaimlerChrysler v. Cuno, 547 U.S. 342 (2006)), in which the court rejected a constitutional challenge to a state tax incentive program. Erik also argued in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and authored briefs in the Supreme Court of Ohio.
