Stanley Okoli, a native to Portland, Oregon, spent the better part of his formative years growing up overseas in the United Kingdom and Africa. His early exposure to divergent cultures and political norms ensured that he was struck by the sometimes unequal distribution of civil liberties. These inequities seemed rife in his immediate environment, wherever that may be. Those experiences played a prominent role in his life as he sought to level those disparities.

While attending the University of Michigan, Stanley gravitated toward several fields. This includes the field of journalism which catered to his inquisitive nature and his apparently compulsive urge to pen his observations. As a double major in political science and journalism, his affinity for legal justice seemed obvious after he realized that the law is the only true equalizer in the society. He felt that his aspirations in the study of the law required an eloquence that could ideally be harnessed by a writer.

He obtained his Juris Doctor from Wayne State University Law School, where he was an associate editor for the Wayne Law Review. He was also elected to the Student Board of Governors and was a Mock Trial Team finalist. During his tenure as a law student, he worked as a law clerk for the honorable Judge Frank Szymanski at the Wayne County Probate Court, and subsequently for the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.

Prior to joining the team at Romano Law, P.L.L.C., Stanley volunteered his time to various local political pursuits. These include serving as a policy director for two different candidates running for seats in the State of Michigan’s House of Representatives in their respective districts. His research tackled such issues as Michigan’s ability to become the foremost green energy State, K-12 education disparities and insurance redlining. He was able to annex his research credentials as a journalist and his legal training in seeking pragmatic solutions to thorny problems confronting the State of Michigan.

As an attorney at Romano Law, P.L.L.C., Stanley holds to the belief that every Tom, Dick, and Sally should have his or her day in court. He is particularly drawn to police misconduct cases because of the complexities forever at play between citizens’ constitutionally-bestowed rights and the society’s no less critical interest in maintaining peace and order. As Stanley says, “…we exist to ensure not that the underdogs become the overlords, but that our clients have recourse to the law through aggressive representation. Their voices might otherwise have been silenced”.

Stanley is admitted to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

He resides in Metro Detroit where, in his spare time, enjoys running and writing. He has a fondness for traveling and meeting new people.
