David Elliott utilizes his background in mathematics to solve problems in business and financial transactions and to provide strategic counsel and representation. He represents lenders and borrowers in multimillion-dollar transactions, and has acted as bond counsel, underwriter's counsel and borrower's counsel on various tax-exempt bond issues. He handles mergers and acquisitions, and counsels clients financing businesses or real estate, including health care facilities. Many of his clients are doctors and other professionals. The financial aspect of this practice often involves estate planning services as well.
Mr. Elliott also chairs GKH's immigration practice, and represents businesses and individuals in the U.S. and around the world with regard to immigration, business and tax issues. Through this practice and his representation of several government contractors, Mr. Elliott has a wealth of experience dealing with various governmental agencies.
Mr. Elliott served as GKH’s Managing Partner from 2003 to 2004. He is a former member of the Chattanooga Bar Association’s Board of Governors, and a 2008 graduate of the Tennessee Bar Association Leadership Law program.
He is involved in the Chattanooga community as the President of the Rotary Club of Chattanooga Hamilton Place 2011-2012, Treasurer and Director of Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprise, Inc., a member of the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce Workforce and Education Committee, a member of the Board of Directors of La Paz Chattanooga, a Hispanic outreach nonprofit organization, and a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and its music committee.
David was born and raised in Cleveland, Tennessee. He and his wife, Kelley, reside in North Chattanooga with their son and two daughters. His hobbies include golf, tennis, basketball, guitar and chess.
