Although Jim has been practicing law in Northeast Ohio since 1994, his practice and experience are national. Because health care is one of our nation's largest industries, Jim is committed to being an advocate for what he believes to be the most important sector - private practice physicians. To that end, he is active in many regional and national organizations related to the health care industry. Additionally, he is the co-chairman of a national conference of health care attorneys focused on physician issues held annually in Washington D.C. An adjunct to the Washington D.C. conference is physician-focused lobbying through the Small Business Council of America.
Typical clients are physicians or physician groups in any state that are developing or expanding physician-oriented health care projects. These projects range from traditional physician office practices to physician networks to ancillary services and ambulatory surgery centers to large joint ventures involving physicians, hospitals and privately funded national investor groups. The legal issues involved also cover a broad range of federal and state laws such as the Anti-Kickback Law, the Stark Law, antitrust law, the myriad of billing rules and regulations as well as general business and tax planning and representation.
Jim graduated from The University of Akron in 1991 with a degree in Business Administration and Finance. He received his Juris Doctor, with distinction, from Ohio Northern University in 1994, and his Masters of Taxation from the University of Akron in 1997.
A life-long resident of Northeast Ohio, Jim currently lives in Bath with his wife and three children. When he is not working, Jim can often be found with his children on one of the hiking trails or fishing ponds in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
