John F. Edgar is one of the founding partners of Edgar Law Firm LLC. The Firm was founded in 2002 to provide clients with the responsive, personal service they need in high-stakes, complex litigation.

Edgar is well known for his work in complex and class action litigation in courts throughout the country. Clients turn to Edgar counting on his courtroom skills in high-profile litigation where the last thing the client needs is a large law firm charging massive hourly rates.

For example, Edgar has served as plaintiffs' lead counsel in a multitude of successful, highly publicized class actions against some of the largest corporations in the world: Chrysler, General Motors, Microsoft, Bank of America, and British Petroleum, to name a few. In fact, one such case in which Edgar served as co-lead trial counsel, concluded after one of the longest jury trials in the history of the United States. Edgar has successfully prosecuted cases in the areas of commercial litigation, environmental, products liability class actions, securities class actions, employment class actions, antitrust class actions and consumer class actions.

Edgar began his practice in tobacco litigation and other mass torts including asbestos. As Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of Missouri, his team assisted the Missouri Attorney General's office in recovering over $6 billion dollars in its cost recovery lawsuit against various tobacco defendants. This successful experience resulted in Edgar serving as co-lead counsel in several class actions in the State of Nevada arising from tobacco smoke exposure, as well as environmental contamination cases across the country.

Edgar serves in key leadership roles throughout the legal and business communities and serves on the Board of Governors for the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys. He is a former Board member of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association.

John F. Edgar was born in Kansas City, Missouri. He currently lives in Leawood, Kansas with his wife Keiko, and his three children Isabella, Emma, and Deya. Edgar enjoys spending time with his family and playing an occasional round of golf.
