Julie prosecutes U.S. and foreign patent applications and assists clients in patent portfolio development and licensing. She conducts patentability, validity, infringement, freedom to operate, and due diligence analyses. Her scientific and technical expertise includes biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, molecular biology, biochemistry, medical devices, and related fields. She has experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications directed to various technologies, including biologics such as antibodies and siRNAs, small molecule therapeutics, formulations, viral vectors, and vaccines, as well as clean energy technologies.
With more than a decade of experience in biomedical research, Julie has conducted basic research and pharmaceutical clinical trials. She earned a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Iowa, and she was awarded Predoctoral and Postdoctoral National Research Service Awards from the National Institute of Mental Health and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. Julie is the author of numerous peer-reviewed original research articles published in scientific journals, including Journal of Neuroscience, Learning & Memory, Journal of Neuropsychopharmacology, Neuroscience, Neuroreport, Journal of Sleep Research, and Brain, and she has served as an ad hoc reviewer for journals including Science, Sleep, Journal of Sleep Research, and Neuroscience Letters.
