Randolph M. Goodman is a partner in the Tax Practice Group. He joined the firm in 2002. Mr. Goodman advises leading universities, foundations, businesses and other major institutions throughout the country in matters concerning non-profit organizations, retirement and health law, taxation, fiduciary responsibilities, business transactions and executive compensation.
Practice
Mr. Goodman’s clients include prominent colleges and universities, academic medical centers and other non-profit institutions and governmental entities, as well as for-profit businesses (both privately and publicly held), professional groups and individuals.
Professional Activities
In addition to practicing law, Mr. Goodman serves as Adjunct Professor of Public Affairs at Columbia University and is a faculty advisor to the Alliance for Community Enhancement at Columbia University, Inc., a supporting organization to Columbia University that is engaged in community development activities and managed by students in the School of International and Public Affairs. He is a frequent lecturer on issues related to non-profit organizations, retirement and health law and taxation, and he has served as an instructor in the continuing education programs the IRS provides for its agents. In addition, he has written numerous articles on tax-related issues, a text on retirement and benefit planning, and has been a contributing author for CCH Financial and Estate Planning, The Exempt Organization Tax Review, and The Tax Lawyer.
Mr. Goodman is a member of the District of Columbia Bar Association and the American Bar Association, and serves as Chair of the Compensation and Benefits Section - Exempt Organization Committee of the ABA Section of Taxation. He has served on the Healthcare Advisory Board of the University of California at Irvine Graduate School of Management as a member of the National Advisory Board for CCH Financial and Estate Planning. He also has chaired the Tax Section of the National Association of College and University Attorneys.
