Douglas, Dwayne

Michael D. Goggans was named a Super Lawyers Rising Star in the Mid-South region in 2012.

Originally from Tupelo, MS, Michael graduated from the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science. After earning his bachelor's degree from Mississippi State University, Michael moved to New York City to attend Fordham University School of Law.

Returning to Tupelo after graduation, Michael served the First District of Mississippi as an Assistant District Attorney. After several years in Tupelo as prosecutor and in a general practice, Michael returned to school to obtain a Master of Laws in Intellectual Property from Franklin Pierce Law Center.

After obtaining his LL.M., Michael moved to Jackson, MS to join Forman Perry Watkins Krutz and Tardy, and subsequently Page Mannino Peresich & McDermott, where his practice focused primarily on complex civil litigation. Most recently, Michael served as General Counsel to Peavey Electronics Corporation.

Michael has spoken at numerous conferences on topics such as protection of intellectual property, toxic torts and litigation techniques and recently served as Vice Chairman of the Association of Corporate Counsel's Intellectual Property Committee, which boasts over 3,000 members. Remaining dedicated to his alma mater, Michael is immediate past president and a current board member of the Mississippi School for Math and Science Foundation. He is also a past president of the MSMS Alumni Association.

Michael is married to the former Elizabeth Parker and is the proud father of four children. Michael and Elizabeth attend Northcrest Baptist Church in Meridian.
