Eric Diaz is a member of Jacoby Donner, P.C. For over a decade Mr. Diaz has been structuring, negotiating and closing sophisticated real estate and finance transactions for a broad spectrum of clients who seek his counsel and assistance on matters related to debt and equity finance, acquisition, disposition and leasing.
Mr. Diaz advises a broad spectrum of clients on, and closes deals encompassing, all aspects of commercial real estate finance, acquisition, leasing, and disposition, including distressed real estate and non-performing loans. Mr. Diaz has significant experience in advising clients with respect to every facet of commercial mortgage loan servicing and related real estate capital market transactions. Additionally, he counsels lender clients with respect to a wide array of structured financing and credit facilities.
Prior to joining Jacoby Donner, Mr. Diaz served as corporate counsel to GMAC Commercial Holding Corporation subsidiaries: GMAC Commercial Mortgage Corporation, whose Global Servicing Division manages a loan servicing portfolio of over $120 billion, comprised of every mortgage loan type and size, from under $1 million to more than $1 billion; Escrow Bank USA, a Utah-chartered industrial bank holding nearly $4 billion in trust assets and specializing in accepting deposits for escrow accounts and providing document custody services to the commercial real estate industry; and GMAC Commercial Mortgage Bank, an FDIC-insured, Utah-chartered industrial bank holding more than $4 billion in assets, whose primary business is funding commercial mortgage loans.
Mr. Diaz is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross (B.A. 1988), the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law (J.D., cum laude, 1996), where he served as editor-in-chief of the Buffalo Environmental Law Journal, and New York University School of Law (LL.M., Taxation, 1997).
