James P. Gerard is a Martindale and Hubbell “AV” rated partner in the Real Estate section of the firm. Mr. Gerard concentrates his practice in the areas of real estate, commercial law (e.g., the areas of consumer protection, debtor/creditor relations, and secured lending), construction litigation, and municipal law. Mr. Gerard has also served as city attorney for Garden City, Georgia, since 1991, during which time he has also served as a consultant for a number of other municipalities in Southeast Georgia.
Mr. Gerard is a native of Ithaca, New York. He attended Duke University and graduated cum laude in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. Upon earning his undergraduate degree, Mr. Gerard attended the University of Georgia School of Law and received his Juris Doctor in 1981.
Mr. Gerard has been named a 2013 "Best Lawyers in America" in the category of Real Estate Law.
Mr. Gerard is a member of the State Bar of Georgia.
Mr. Gerard is admitted to practice before the Georgia state courts, the United States District Courts for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Georgia, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the Federal Court of Claims
