Dana received her Bachelor of Arts from University of California at Los Angeles in 1988. She later received her Juris Doctorate from University of Southern California in 1993. Dana also attained a Master of Arts Degree in International Relations.
Dana is admitted to practice in all California State Courts, the United States District Court for the Central and Northern Districts of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
