Jim is a shareholder in the Oil, Gas, and Energy Resources Section. He is Board Certified in Oil, Gas and Mineral Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and is licensed to practice law in both Texas and New Mexico.
AREAS OF CONCENTRATION
Title Examination
A major portion of Jim's practice is devoted to rendering drilling title opinions, division order title opinions and leasehold acquisition title opinions for lands located in Texas and New Mexico. In addition to privately owned lands, Jim is experienced in the examination of title to Relinquishment Act Lands (Texas), University Lands (Texas) and state and federal lands in New Mexico.
Oil and Gas Transactional Matters
Jim also negotiates and prepares assignments, deeds, leases, operating agreements, purchase and sale agreements, seismic option agreements, easements and other instruments clients use in the course of acquiring, exploring, developing, producing and divesting oil and gas reserves.
