Warren Power is a founding member of the firm and has more than twenty-three (23) years of professional legal experience. Warren has extensive experience representing clients in land use matters focusing primarily in the complex area of eminent domain. Warren has represented the Georgia Department of Transportation in almost all of its highway projects in Henry County since 1997. These projects have included the widening and extension of Georgia State Route 20, State Route 81, State Route 138, Jonesboro Road, Eagle's Landing Parkway, Jodeco Road, and the north-south one-way pairs on the City of McDonough Square. Additionally, Warren represented the Department in its improvements of State Route 54 in Clayton County. Other governmental entities such as Butts, Clayton and Henry Counties, and the City of Atlanta have retained Warren to represent them in their eminent domain projects
Warren has also represented property owners against the local and federal governments. Warren has represented property owners against all of the cities in Henry County; Henry, Clayton, DeKalb and Bibb counties; and the United States of America.
Warren is a Special Assistant to the attorney general of the State of Georgia for land use matters, including eminent domain. Warren has represented the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and has served as a Special Assistant Attorney General for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, the Georgia Regional Transit Authority, and the Technical College System of Georgia. Warren has an AV rating with Martindale-Hubbell's Bar Registry which is the highest attainable rating as to skill level and integrity. Warren earned his bachelor's degrees from Christopher Newport University in Virginia and his JD degree from Mercer University. Warren is admitted to practice before all State and Federal Courts in Georgia, the United States Eleventh Circuit and the United States Court of Federal Claims. Warren has also been admitted Pro hac vice in Alabama and Tennessee.
Warren has lectured extensively on the topics of land use and eminent domain to members of the Georgia Bar since 2003, and is a Past Chair of the Eminent Domain Section of the State Bar. Warren is also listed in the Best Lawyers of America and has a "superb" rating from AVVO Lawyers Rating, which is the highest attainable rating. Warren is also a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, an honorary trial lawyer's society, an honor received by less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers.
EXPERIENCE
- Successfully handled two trademark infringement cases; one of which was on behalf of the owner of the trademark where suit was brought in the Superior Court of Henry County against the official legal organ of the County for trademark infringement. Secondly, in federal court, in the Northern District of Georgia, and I successfully defended the alleged infriger.
- Successfully defended equitable title claims
- Successfully prosecuted a breach of contract claim resulting in judgment in client's favor for over 100,000
- Successfully defended business loss claims in excess of 2.4 million
- Appointed Special Assistant Attorney General under Attorneys General Michael Bowers, Thurbert Baker and Samuel S. Olens for eminent domain and other real estate acquisition purposes.
- Acquired over 1000 parcels of property for the State of Georgia as a Special Assistant Attorney General.
- Handled over 100 condemnation cases for the State of Georgia as a Special Assistant Attorney General.
- Served as outside eminent domain counsel to the City of Atlanta by assisting in the acquisition of subsurface right of way for the City, DeKalb and Fulton Counties to construct. The Nancy Creek Sewer tunnel. This project extended more than 8.25 miles and affected approximately 300 property owners.
- Closed a Six Million Dollar acquisition by the Georgia Regional Transit Authority in Clayton County, Georgia.
- Closed 25 acres in Henry County, Georgia for the Technical College System of Georgia's expansion of Griffin Tech. as part of an Eight Million Dollar expansion project.
- Has served as sole or lead counsel in over 50 jury trials.
- Handled numerous condemnation cases on behalf of property owners against various local governments, county authorities, the United States of America and the U. S. Airforce.
- Has taught numerous continuing Legal Education Courses on eminent domain and land use since 2003.
- Appointed Part-Time Magistrate in Henry County, since 2007
