Mr. Friedman is one of the senior shareholders in the Litigation/Appellate Group. He graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science in Financial Management in 1968 and received his Juris Doctor from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1973, at which time he became a member of this firm. While at Georgetown, he was a member of the International Law Journal, participated in the Criminal Justice Clinical Program, taught legal research and writing to first year students, and published "No Man Can Serve Two Masters" in Res Ipsa Loquitur. Since 1973, he has been licensed in Maryland and the District of Columbia to practice law before the State Courts, Federal Courts and Administrative Agencies (including Police Trial Boards; Boards of Trustee's at the University Level on tenure disciplinary issues; Medical Board of Quality Assurance; Board of Psychologists' Examiners; Real Estate Licensing Boards; Attorney Grievance and Disciplinary Commissions).

Family Law
Mr. Friedman has extensive experience in all areas of family law, including:
Appellate Practice - drafted briefs and argued in over 20 appeals before the Maryland Court of Appeals, Maryland Court of Special Appeals, District of Columbia Court of Appeals, Virginia Court of Appeals (by special admission), and Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals as well as participated in the drafting of brief before the United States Supreme Court. Successful appellate decisions include opinions establishing the right to reservation of alimony, custody and counsel fee decisions, monetary awards and pension distributions, upholding a $3.4 million dollar monetary award in the Commonwealth of Virginia wherein the Virginia Court of Appeals upheld the Trial Court's piercing of the corporate veil in order to reach the assets hidden by a spouse.
Mental Health Professionals - Mr. Friedman is the General Counsel to Montgomery County Mental Health Association, and he routinely counsels and advises mental health professional in private practice and in the public sector on the many legal and professional issues which they face everyday, including privilege issues, conflicts, billing, insurance claims, disciplinary and ethical complaints.
Professional Disciplinary Matters, Ethics Advice and Counsel Represents and counsels medical, mental health, legal, real estate and certified public accounting professionals who are facing disciplinary and ethics issues in their daily practice and when they need representation before professional licensing boards, agencies and associations.

Administrative Matters
Represent clients in disciplinary, licensing and grievance matters, including, police trial board, State and local government employees; teachers and University professors on tenure and employment issues before Boards of Trustees; at license revocation, disciplinary, grievance and other administrative matters on behalf of physicians, attorneys, psychologists, and security clearance proceedings.
American Civil Liberties Union-Mr. Friedman is the former Legal Director of the Prince George's County Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union.
