Rainer grew up in a family which taught him old fashioned values centered on integrity. He was taught to speak plainly and to follow through. He was taught personal responsibility and the value of honest, hard work whether tending livestock or on the construction site. He applied that work ethic to his education both in school and at college. He also learned the lessons taught by athletic competition as a long distance runner in high school and as an oarsman while at college. Rainer was fortunate to have lived and studied abroad in Germany and England both as a child and as an adult. His travels range from Fairbanks, Alaska to Budapest, Hungary.
Rainer earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and American Literature from Brown University in 1987 which work also included studies at the University of Durham, Durham England. He then pursued graduate studies at the University of Passau, Passau Germany in German Literature and Linguistics in 1988-1990. He graduated from the University of Toledo, School of Law in 1994 having authored "Privatization in Eastern Germany: A Comprehensive Study" (1994), 27 Vanderbilt Journal of Transnational Law 809. While in law school, he also earned American Jurisprudence Awards in International Organizations and Environmental & Developmental Land Use Regulation. He also served as a Judicial Intern, for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Northwestern District of Ohio, Western Division.
In 1994, Rainer was admitted to practice law in Ohio and entered professional life as an assistant prosecuting attorney responsible for all stages of child support enforcement from inception to conclusion for the entire county caseload of active files. He also prosecuted acts of juvenile delinquency and probation violations. Afterwards he entered private civil practice in Ohio until his admission to the Washington State Bar in 1998. Since 2000 he has lived, and practiced law, in Gig Harbor, Washington where he has concentrated on all stages of civil litigation, relating to family law, real estate issues and general civil practice. He has also dedicated time to his community whether as an assistant coach in youth soccer and little league baseball, or as a Board of Directors member for Gig Harbor Academy, or as a member of the Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce.
Based on his upbringing and experiences summarized above, he applies a wide perspective when seeking to understand each client and his or her needs as he or she moves through various issues at a time of stress. He also applies his capacity for focused, hard work as he pursues the optimal solution to his clients' legal issues.
