G. Michael Curran provides legal counsel on all aspects of out-of-court reorganizations and workouts, as well as bankruptcy proceedings. He has represented debtors, debtors' and creditors' committees, and third party purchasers in a variety of complex factual and legal scenarios, and has also acted as special counsel.

Mike understands that bankruptcy is the worst-case scenario for any of his clients. As a result, the first step he takes is to thoroughly analyze all aspects of the particular situation, assessing cash flow and other factors to identify all the viable alternatives available to the client. Taking all variables into account, Mike devises a strategic plan for the client, sometimes utilizing bankruptcy as a tool to reach particular objectives. In virtually every case, the primary goal is to create a path that facilitates cash flow, operational efficiencies, and fiscal health, and that identifies pressure points that need careful monitoring as the plan is executed.

Mike has been involved in numerous high-pressure, time sensitive reorganizations, both inside and outside of the bankruptcy arena. His experience spans a wide variety of businesses and industries, including telecommunications and manufacturing concerns, real estate companies, public debt lending operations, and commercial and asset-based lending institutions. In one particular representation, Mike was lead counsel to an equity committee that created a plan that structured a complex, multi-staged settlement resulting in cash payments to equity holders in excess of $450,000,000.

Mike's outstanding organizational and management skills are also evident in the many leadership positions he has held at law firms. He previously was head of the corporate reorganization and bankruptcy group at the Dallas office of a major international law firm. He also opened and was the partner in charge of the Dallas office of a premier bankruptcy boutique.
