Cary Piel was an all-district football player in high school in Angleton, Texas, on the Gulf Coast.After high school Cary Piel enlisted into the United States Marine Corp. He completed his tour of duty, then received his B.A. degree from the University of Texas in Austin. He was then commissioned into the United States Army, where he was an Infantry Officer and an Army Ranger. After completing his service to his country, Cary returned to the University of Texas School of Law and completed his JurisDoctorate.
Cary has exclusively practiced criminal law since becoming licensed by the Texas State Bar in 1993. He has served as an Assistant Criminal District Attorney at both the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and the Denton County Criminal District Attorney’s Office and has served as a private criminal defense attorney. Cary is Board Certified in Criminal Law by Texas Board of Legal Specialization and has conducted more than 250 jury trials, including Capital Murder, Murder, Aggravated Sexual Assault, Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Kidnapping, Burglary of a Habitation, Theft, Fraud,Family Violence, Drug Offenses and Intoxication Offenses, including Driving While Intoxicated and Intoxication Manslaughter. He has been featured on multiple national television programs for his successful prosecution of complex murder cases. Cary has studied advanced forensics under nationally renowned forensic and crime scene experts in the following areas: Blood Stain Pattern Analysis, Shooting Incident Reconstruction and Crime Scene Reconstruction and is a former Adjunct Professor of Criminal Law at Texas Woman’s University.
