Todd Peterson has a wide-ranging practice involving nearly every type of civil liability, including personal injury, negligence, construction defect, premises, insurance defense, and bad faith.
His primary focus is product liability. Todd has litigated cases involving cars, trucks, taxis, ladders, elevators, vacuum cleaners, hand tools, construction equipment, asbestos, and more. He has tried cases throughout California and represented manufacturers and rental companies in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, Missouri, and Nebraska.
His specialty is the scaffold, aerial platform, crane, and rental equipment industries. Todd has handled hundreds of cases involving forklifts, boom lifts, scissor lifts, scaffolds and shoring. He has a special certification and/or training in scaffold erection, aerial work platform operation, crane safety management, and sling and rigging safety. He regularly speaks to insurers and industry groups on risk management and legal issues.
Todd received his bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Nebraska. He taught 8th grade American history in Lincoln Public Schools for six years before returning to the University of Nebraska for a master's degree in Education and law school. He received his law degree with honors and distinction in 1989. He was a member of the Moot Court Board and awarded the Order of Coif, signifying graduation in the top 10% of his class. He earned American Jurisprudence Awards in Property, Insurance, and Legal Ethics. He served as an adjunct professor of legal ethics at the University of San Francisco School of Law from 2001-2006.
He is admitted to practice in California, Washington, and Nebraska.
