Brian, who is Senior Counsel to the Firm, focuses his practice on tax disputes and tax litigation. He has extensive litigation experience in the federal tax arena and has tried both jury and non-jury cases in federal courts.
Brian started his career as a Certified Public Accountant/Attorney for Price Waterhouse in Washington, D.C. Thereafter, he joined the United States Department of Justice, Tax Division and quickly rose to the level of Senior Trial Attorney. At DOJ, Brian was lead counsel for many of the Tax Division’s most complex, large dollar cases. While with the Department of Justice, Brian was a 3-time recipient of the Tax Division’s Outstanding Attorney Award. He also served as a Reviewer where he supervised the tax litigation work of approximately 30 other trial attorneys. Prior to joining Kundra & Associates as Senior Counsel to the Firm, Brian was Counsel to a prominent Washington D.C. law firm.
Brian received his B.S. in accounting from Pennsylvania State University, his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, and his M.A. from Johns Hopkins University. He is licensed in the District of Columbia, Pennsylvania and Maryland and is admitted to appear before the U.S. Tax Court, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
In 2002, Brian was elected to serve in the Maryland House of Delegates. Brian was re-elected in 2006 and 2010. Currently, Brian is the Chair of the Montgomery County House Delegation, Chair of the House Subcommittee on Banking, Economic Development, Science and Technology and Parliamentarian of the House of Delegates.
