DEBORAH FARMER SMITH was admitted to the bar in Indiana in 1983. Her undergraduate degree, cum laude, was obtained from Butler University in 1976, and her law degree from Indiana University, magna cum laude, in 1983. Ms. Farmer served as the first counsel to the President of the Indiana State Bar Association, and served as President of the Indiana Bar Foundation from 1998-2000. She is also a past chair of the Family and Juvenile Law Section. Ms. Farmer is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and is recognized by Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory with its highest rating. Ms. Farmer's practice is concentrated in the areas of divorce and domestic relations mediation, and she chairs the firm's Family Law and Mediation Practice Groups. She is co-chair of the Family Law Certification Board for Indiana and has frequently served as a speaker and seminar chair for professional seminars on divorce law and practice. Ms. Farmer is active in the community; she is a board member of the Booth Tarkington Civic Theatre and has won multiple awards for musical direction at various area theater organizations. She is a former Administrative Board chair and has been the pianist for over 30 years for the First United Methodist Church, Noblesville.
