Michael Everett opened his practice in Grandview, Washington in 1975.
He was born in Grandview, grew up there. He served in the U.S. Army in Viet Nam. He is a single parent and raised four children.
He graduated from Gonzaga Law School. Served for 10 years on the Grandview City Council and was a member of Grandview Rotary, Kiwanis, Chamber of Commerce and other service organizations in the Lower Yakima Valley Community. He is a former President of the Grandview Kiwanis.
As a Viet Nam veteran he belongs to VFW and American Legion.
He is a founding board member of the Lower Valley Hospice and a founding board member of Lower Valley Youth Soccer Association.
He also served as President of the Board and a Board Member for the Anne Tran Grief and Loss Counseling Center.
His other public service including being a Member and Chair of the Yakima County Alcohol Advisory Board. This board was responsible for overseeing all of the Alcohol Treatment programs in Yakima County.
As an attorney he was responsible for the organization of the Port of Grandview.
He serves as Judge Pro Tem in Grandview, Sunnyside, Toppenish, Zillah and Prosser. He also was Hearings Officer for the Washington State Human Rights Commission, and Pro Tem Judge in Yakima County District Court.
He served as Municipal Court Judge.
He currently focuses his practice on Family, Divorce, Custody and Child Support cases. During his practice he has been served as Contract Public Defender in Yakima County District Court. He has handled numerous felonies, everything, from burglary to murder. He has handled Juvenile court criminal cases and dependencies.
He has successfully argued cases before the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of the State of Washington, changing the state of law for the entire State. State v. Baker 49 Wash.App. 778; Foster v. Sunnyside Valley Irr. Dist. 102 Wash. 2d 395.
