Paula Estrada de Martin is a senior associate in the firm's Intellectual Property Department. She joined the firm in 2005. Dr. Estrada de Martin's practice focuses on US and foreign patent prosecution for life science, biotechnology and plant fields, patent portfolio management, patentability assessment, non-infringement and invalidity opinions, due diligence, pre-suit investigation and litigation support for life sciences and plant matters.
Practice
Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Estrada de Martin was a post-doctoral Fellow in the Department of Ophthalmology at Weill Medical College of Cornell University, where she investigated the sorting and targeting of apical membrane proteins in RPE and MDCK cells in the laboratory of Dr. Enrique Rodriguez-Boulan. In the summer of 1997, she interned at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. From 1998 to 2004, she served as a teaching assistant at Yale University while pursuing her graduate studies. Dr. Estrada de Martin's technical skills encompass genetics, biochemistry, molecular biology, physiology, and cell biology. The author and co-author of several publications, she has also presented posters at scientific meetings and conferences.

As a graduate student at Yale University, Dr. Estrada de Martin was elected to the Graduate and Professional Student Senate and served as a departmental representative to the Yale Graduate Student Assembly. She also co-founded the Graduate Association of Latino(a)-American Students at Yale.
