Robert K. Ciulla practiced law, with an emphasis on civil litigation, for 39 years. He is a graduate of Williams College and Yale Law School. Mr. Ciulla was a partner at Tyler Cooper & Alcorn for 25 years, serving as Chairman of the litigation department until his departure to form Ciulla & Donofrio, LLP on November 1, 1996. Mr. Ciulla was the Town Attorney for North Haven for 26 years (1979-2006) retiring as Town Attorney in January 2006, and retiring from the active practice of law in December, 2006.
Mr. Ciulla has been a very significant member of the Connecticut legal community throughout his career. He was co-author of significant revisions to the Connecticut Rules of Practice in 1978; he served as a member of the Connecticut Legal Specialization Screening Committee from 1981-1991; was co-chairman of the U.S. District Court Panel of Special Masters from 1986-1989; he is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, a Fellow of the Connecticut Bar Foundation, and was a member of the Statewide Grievance Committee from 1987-1990. Mr. Ciulla serves as a U.S. District Court Special Master, is Chairman of the Federal Judiciary Committee of the Connecticut Bar Association, is a member of the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Motor Club (AAA) and the Board of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Ciulla currently serves as an arbitrator and mediator in a wide variety of civil matters.
