In his general litigation practice, Aakash assists clients with handling non-compete agreements and other employment matters, partnership disputes, contract disputes, resolving whistleblower claims under Sarbanes Oxley (SOX), and white collar crime issues. Aakash also has experience in the areas of securities and telecommunications regulation. Specifically, he has experience with auditing company operations, information technology and accounting systems in compliance with FINRA. In his telecommunications practice, he is familiar with federal and state compliance issues, including those related to the Universal Service Fund (USF) and Eligible Telecommunication Carrier (ETC) guidelines.
Aakash is a member of the Minnesota State, Federal Bar and American Bar associations. He is also a member of Twin Cities Diversity in Practice and is active on the firm's recruiting and diversity committees. In the community, Aakash provides pro bono legal services and has experience in criminal defense at the appellate level.
Aakash received his B.A. in biology and business management from Washington University in St. Louis and his law degree from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law. He served as an extern for the Honorable Audrey G. Fleissig, Magistrate Judge for the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Missouri, and a research assistant for Professor Stephen Gunn at Washington University in St. Louis School of Law. He joined Briggs in 2005.
