Joseph A. Carofano, Esq. received his Juris Doctor Degree from Pace University School of Law in 1991 and was admitted to the New York Bar in 1992. He is also admitted to the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. From 1991 to 1997, he served as an Assistant District Attorney in Bronx County, where he prosecuted and tried felonies. In addition, while in the Appeals Bureau of the Bronx District Attorney’s Office, he prepared, presented and argued appellate briefs in the Appellate Division, First Department. From 1997 to 1998, subsequent to his tenures as an Assistant District Attorney, he was employed as an associate with Morris, Duffy, Alonso & Faley, an insurance defense firm in Manhattan. At that firm, he handled the defense of general liability cases for the New York City Housing Authority. Thereafter, from 1998 to 2003, he served as a senior trial attorney at Velella, Velella, Basso & Calandra, handling general liability, "labor law" and medical malpractice cases. He tried numerous cases to favorable conclusion. In addition, he handled real estate closings, criminal, commercial litigation and surrogate (trusts & estates) matters.
