Jamie joined Mike Lamb in 2004 to form the partnership of Lamb & Carey. He clerked for Montana Supreme Court Justice William E. Hunt in Helena after law school and in July 1997 he joined Thueson & Lamb as an associate. His practice with both firms has specialized in personal injury and the Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA).
As an undergraduate student at Loyola University of Chicago, Jamie was a member of the National History Honor Society, the Shortstop on Loyola's baseball team during the 1988 and 1989 seasons, and he also spent the 1989-90 school year studying at Loyola's Rome, Italy campus. During law school at the University of Montana, Jamie served on the Public Land Law Review.
Jamie was born in Fort Hood, Texas and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He lives in Helena with his wife Lorie and their two daughters, Caroline and Eliza.
