Darwin Bustarde began practicing law in 2005 after graduating from California Western School of Law in San Diego, California. He was awarded various scholarships for his academic achievements and during law school clerked at a general civil litigation firm that focused on real property/construction defect matters and the City of San Diego, Code Enforcement Unit. His prior experience includes providing litigation and transactional/corporate services to new homebuyers and large national corporations/entities. He has effectively represented design and construction professionals in complex construction defect actions. He most recently applied his experience to provide legal services as a sole-proprietorship to small businesses and property owners. Mr. Bustarde's experience includes business start-up legal services, business entity formations, transactional services (document drafting/review), dispute resolution through litigation and/or negotiation, and general risk management.

He joined Mayfield Bustarde, LLP (formerly Mayfield & Associates) to provide clients even more comprehensive business focused legal services. Mr. Bustarde helps the firm's clients meet their litigation and business goals. As a prior small business owner, Mr. Bustarde is uniquely qualified to understand the issues people and companies face on a daily basis.

Mr. Bustarde represents the firm's clients at all stages of litigation in business and real property disputes, including pre-litigation dispute resolution, mediations, arbitrations and state and federal litigation. His prior experience as insurance defense counsel, and as plaintiff's counsel for litigants unfamiliar with any form of legal proceedings, give him insight that aides the client in developing business/litigation strategies. He is experienced in dealing with and resolving matters ranging from trade secret misappropriation, unfair business practices and general breach of contract disputes.

In his transactional practices, Mr. Bustarde engages in document drafting and review, including contracts, purchase agreements and leases. He also forms business entities such as LLC's, corporations and partnerships. Mr. Bustarde's real estate practice includes: transactional services, litigation, and landlords and tenant matters including evictions (unlawful detainer).
