James Atkinson Bruoton IV "Chip" practices in the areas of construction litigation and governmental law. He has been admitted to practice in the state of South Carolina. Mr. Bruoton is a member of the Charleston Bar Association, the South Carolina Bar, and the American Bar Association. He received his Bachelors of Science degree in Financial Management from Clemson University and earned his law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law.

Chip Bruoton was born in Greenville, SC on May 6, 1978. Mr. Bruorton and his wife, Lindsay, along with their two sons, Carver and Lyles, reside in Mt. Pleasant, SC where they are members of Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church. Mr. Bruoton is a member and former board member of the Mt. Pleasant Exchange Club and a member of the Charleston Chamber of Commerce.

Background

Chip Bruoton practices primarily in the areas of construction litigation, condemnation and administrative and government law. Mr. Bruoton has had experience representing private and public owners, architects, contractors, construction managers, subcontractors, and their insurers or sureties in construction matters. Mr. Bruoton also has experience in representing governmental entities in condemnation actions.

Mr. Bruoton, who had previously clerked with the firm while a law student, joined the firm in August 2003 as an associate. Since joining the firm in 2003, Mr. Bruoton has had the opportunity to handle a variety of legal matters and gain significant experience and knowledge from other members of the firm. Mr. Bruoton became a shareholder with the firm in December 2007.
