Robert J. Bonds began practicing law in Walterboro, South Carolina in 1990. He is an experienced trial lawyer who has represented hundreds of plaintiffs injured from defective products, auto accidents, and truck collisions. Mr. Bonds has also recovered large monetary awards for clients injured by the drivers of commercial vehicles. He has more recently become involved in nursing home abuse and neglect cases. He is fully committed to protecting the rights of those individuals who are most vulnerable and unable to protect themselves. Over the years, he has amassed considerable experience in the representation of those who have been accused of crimes. Mr. Bonds' criminal practice involves representing individuals accused of driving under the influence (DUI), drug possession and trafficking, criminal sexual conduct charges, and animal cruelty cases. Mr. Bonds' practice has expanded beyond appearances in Magistrate's Court, General Sessions Court, and the Court of Common Pleas in Walterboro. He regularly handles cases in Beaufort County, Hampton County, Allendale County, and Charleston County. Mr. Bonds and his wife, Harriet, reside in Walterboro and have three children. He and his family enjoy boating and, hunting and farming. They are active members of Bethel United Methodist Church in Walterboro. He is a past President of the Walterboro Rotary Club and has served in the past as a member of Colleton County's Joint Planning Commission and the Walterboro Municipal Planning Commission. He has also served on the Colleton County Board of Voter Registration. In 2011, he was elected to the Walterboro City Council.
