Martha Boersch is a trial lawyer and former federal prosecutor whose practice focuses on federal criminal defense and complex civil litigation in matters involving the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, the False Claims Act, RICO, the Alien Tort Statute, and the antitrust, wire and mail fraud, and money laundering laws. She represents individuals and companies under grand jury investigation and in federal criminal and civil litigation. During her career, Martha has successfully served as lead or co-lead counsel in more than a dozen federal jury trials and has argued more than 20 cases before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Martha successfully argued for summary judgment in favor of the County of Los Angeles in a False Claims Act case involving the potential for billions of dollars of damages. She and her co-counsel achieved a complete defense jury verdict following a trial on civil antitrust claims on behalf of Macy's. As a prosecutor, Martha convicted the former Prime Minister of Ukraine of money laundering after a 10-week trial.
Martha is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, a member of the American Bar Association, and the Federal Bar Association and has served as one of the lawyer representatives to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. She was selected to Northern California Super Lawyers for 2006 through 2009 and California's "Top 75 Women Litigators" for 2005 and 2006. In 2004 she was one of 41 lawyers selected by California Lawyer magazine as "Lawyer of the Year" in her field.
