Michelle Block's practice is concentrated in the areas of medical malpractice and health care law, serving the legal needs of hospitals, physicians and other healthcare professionals in a variety of medical defense matters. Ms. Block has experience handling all aspects of litigation, including pleadings and motion practice, discovery, depositions, trial preparation and trial. She also has experience in resolving cases through alternative dispute resolution. Ms. Block has lectured on topics relating to medical malpractice and nursing home defense. She frequently counsel clients on risk management and risk avoidance issues with respect to professional liability and general insurance matters.
Ms. Block is a 2008 graduate of Thomas M. Cooley Law School where she competed in Moot Court and Trial Advocacy and was a finalist for the Alumni Association's 2008 Distinguished Student Award. During her tenure at Cooley, she also worked in the legal malpractice group at ProAssurance in Okemos, Michigan.
Ms. Block graduated in 2004 from the University of Iowa where she was a four-year athletic scholarship recipient in swimming and was named Academic All-Big 10. Ms. Block was appointed to the 2003-2004 Student Leader Board at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics and was awarded an additional scholarship.
Ms. Block has been recognized by her peers as an Ohio Super Lawyer Rising Star for the years 2012 and 2013, which recognizes the top five percent of attorneys practicing in Ohio under the age of 40 or those in practice for ten years or less.
In her spare time, Ms. Block is a volunteer attorney on Cleveland's Adult Guardianship Services' Board. In addition, she serves as a community-member attorney on University Hospitals' Ethics Committee.
