Tom Baumann, a 1976 cum laude graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, earned his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1979. After spending two years as a law clerk to the Honorable H. Clifton McWilliam, President Judge of the Cambria County Court of Common Please, Tom moved into private practice, joining Abes Baumann as an associate in 1987. Becoming a named partner in 1991, Tom continued working for injured people to grow the firm to where it is today—a premier resource of Workers’ Compensation, Social Security, Veterans Benefits legal practitioners.
Tom sits on the Board of Governors of the Pennsylvania Association for Justice and is co-chair of the Workers’ Compensation Section. He is a past member of the Board of Governors of the Western Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association. He has also served as the Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer of the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Allegheny County Bar Association. In addition to his legal practice, Tom is Chairman of the Unity Township Planning Commission.
Combining his legal expertise with a lifelong passion for sports, Tom is on the Workers’ Compensation Panel of the National Football League Players Association and the Professional Hockey Players Association.
Since 2004, Tom has been listed as one of the top 5% of lawyers in Pennsylvania by Pennsylvania Super Lawyers; since 2009, he has been listed in the Top 50 lawyers in Pittsburgh. He has been listed in Best Lawyers in America since 2005.
Married for over 15 years with 2 children, Tom is an avid sports fan and enjoys working on the family farm in his spare time.
