Barr, John H.

Robert J. Baror is a partner at the firm who practices in the areas of employment law, civil litigation, corporate law, and health law. Representative cases include defending a Fortune 500 corporation from a Title VII claim of national origin discrimination, counseling a regional hospital that was the target of a Department of Justice investigation into Medicare fraud and False Claims Act violations, advising a chain of restaurants in severance matters, helping a hotel client to structure economic layoffs, and representing a medical provider with business interference and defamation claims against her previous employer. Mr. Baror has also represented individual clients involved in disputes regarding covenants not to compete, severance matters, and discrimination claims. While representing medical providers, he has handled antitrust, Stark Law, and Anti-Kickback Statute issues for clients. Mr. Baror has also been involved in negotiations pertaining to franchise medicine and has represented clients regarding physician group practice bonus structures, physician practice acquisitions, physician recruitment deals, and physician employment agreements. Additionally, he represented the second largest physician practice in New York in a dispute regarding a hospital's quality of care.

In addition to handling litigation matters, Mr. Baror serves as Co-Chair of Thatcher Law Firm's Business/Corporate Practice Group. Mr. Baror has broad business/corporate law experience, from representing a billion dollar entity in joint-ventures to handling asset purchase agreements for sole proprietorships and drafting shareholder agreements for closely held corporations. His transactional experience extends to many business sectors; and he has assisted with the completion of a wide variety of business deals, such as international transactions relating to the refining of fuel grade ethanol. His clients have included start-ups, family-run businesses, and large business entities.

Mr. Baror graduated cum laude from Harvard University and Yeshiva University's Cardozo School of Law, where he was on the Law Review. He is admitted to practice in Maryland, Washington, DC, New York, and Connecticut. In addition to his legal career, Mr. Baror has worked as a political consultant, designing communications programs for political candidates, labor unions, and Fortune 500 corporations. He has also served as a communications coordinator for the New York State Senate and a major political party in Buffalo, New York.
