Kim’s areas of concentration are estate planning, estate and trust administration, estate and gift tax and fiduciary income tax. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude from the University of Richmond in 1983. In 1986 Kim graduated With honor from the University of Maryland School of Law.
Immediately after graduation from law school, Kim was a law clerk for the Honorable Robert L. Karwacki who was then a Judge on the Maryland Court of Special Appeals. After her clerkship with Judge Karwacki, Kim was an associate in the Estates and Trusts Department at Frank, Bernstein, Conaway and Goldman in Baltimore from 1987 through 1990.
In 1991 Kim joined Corbin, Schaffer & Aviles Chartered where she continues to concentrate in estate planning, preparation of wills, trusts and powers of attorney, administration of trusts and estates, and income tax preparation for fiduciaries, as well as estate and gift tax returns.
In addition to her active practice, Kim has been an instructor at the Anne Arundel Community College in Estates and Trusts and Paralegal Studies. She has also been an author and presenter for continuing legal education courses sponsored by the Anne Arundel County Bar Association, MICPEL and the Orphans' Court Association of Maryland. She has served on committees of the Anne Arundel County Bar Association and was also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Anne Arundel County Bar Association.
Kim is a past president of both the Anne Arundel Community College Foundation, and the Severn School Alumni Association. She also served as a member of the Board of Trustees of Severn School for 9 years. Kim is admitted to practice law in Maryland, the District of Columbia, the United States Tax Court, and the United States Supreme Court.
