Albert B. Aquila joined the Firm in 1994 and he immediately became one of the Firm’s most effective medical malpractice litigators. As a result of his hard work, dedication and the impressive results he obtained for his clients, Mr. Aquila was put in charge of one of the Firm's Medical Malpractice departments when he became a Member in 2002. Mr. Aquila’s training has provided him with the ability to prepare and try medical malpractice cases in all areas of medicine. His representation of the Firm's clients who have been victims of medical malpractice has resulted in the recovery of many substantial verdicts and settlements. Among his verdicts was an award of $1.75 million in a case involving an 11-year-old girl who lost her vision in one eye due to neurosurgical malpractice. Another verdict he obtained resulted in an award of $1.5 million in a case where a surgeon failed to diagnose a vascular condition prior to performing minor foot surgery, resulting in the amputation of the patient's lower leg. Mr. Aquila obtained a $4.6 million settlement for a woman who lost an arm and suffered a stroke as a result of a hospital's failure to treat a blood clotting disorder, a $2.35 million settlement for the family of a man who suffered a fatal heart attack as a result of the failure to properly diagnose his cardiac symptoms, and a $1.55 million settlement for the family of a woman who died as a result of not receiving proper medication while hospitalized.
Mr. Aquila has been listed as one of the top Medical Malpractice lawyers in New York by Super Lawyers magazine and was also listed in The Best Lawyers in America.
Mr. Aquila also handles product liability cases when they involve defective medical devices used by physicians. Al graduated from St. John's University School of Law in 1993, and is a member of the American Association for Justice and the New York State Trial Lawyers Association. He is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of New York.
