Jay Anderson is Counsel in the Corporate Practice Department in the firm's New York office and a member of the Intellectual Property Practice Group. His practice is focused on patent law, including prosecution of U.S. and international patent applications in a variety of technologies.
Prior to Wiggin and Dana, Jay worked at a New York firm where he prepared and prosecuted patent applications in electrical, e-commerce, mechanical and software arts, Internet applications and business methods. He also prepared noninfringement and invalidity opinions to support litigation activities and evaluated patent portfolios to support due diligence activities.
Jay previously was a staff attorney at IBM, where he worked with inventors to secure patent protection for semiconductor devices, semiconductor manufacturing processes, software and business methods. He also advised management regarding patent licensing and joint development agreements.
He is a co-inventor on U.S. Patent No. 7,395,964, "Secure voting system."
Jay received his J.D. from Pace University School of Law, cum laude. He also received a M.S. in Electrical Engineering, and a M.S. in Physics, both from the University of Illinois. Jay received his S.B. in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Jay is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the New York Intellectual Property Law Association, the New York State Bar Association, Eta Kappa Nu (electrical engineering honorary), and the American Physical Society. He is admitted to practice in New York and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
