Adler, Jessica E.

Robert Alan Adelman was born in Los Angeles, California on March 17, 1950. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science with honors from UCLA in 1972, Mr. Adelman studied law at Loyola University School of Law. While attending Loyola, he was a member of the Thomas More Law Honor Society and received notable accolades including the American Board of Trial Advocates Award. Mr. Adelman earned his Juris Doctor degree with honors from Loyola in 1975 and graduated in the top 10% of his class.

Mr. Adelman was admitted to the California Bar in 1975. He was admitted to the U.S. District Court (Central District of California) and the U.S. Court of Appeals (Ninth Circuit) in 1976. In 1978, Mr. Adelman was admitted to the U.S. District Court (Southern District of California) and in 1979, as an esteemed member of the Bar, he was admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Mr. Adelman is a Founding, and the Senior and Managing Partner of Adelman & Seide, LLP, in Encino, California. He is a Certified Family Law Specialist with over twenty-seven years experience. His primary area of practice is Family Law. As a well known and highly respected member of the family law bar, Mr. Adelman served (1996-2000) as a member of the Executive Board of the Family Law Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association. He is also a long-standing member of the American Bar Association and the Beverly Hills Bar Association and their Family Law Sections.

Mr. Adelman was the Senior Adjunct Professor of Evidence and Family Law at the University of La Verne College of Law for twelve years (1988-2000).

As a person concerned with humanitarian efforts, Mr. Adelman spent many years providing high-caliber legal services to those less fortunate. Mr. Adelman has performed 100s of hours of pro bono service for Bet Tzedek Legal Services, the Bar and Bench.

Mr. Adelman has extensive experience as a mediator and arbitrator. He has served as Judge Pro Tem of the Superior Court of the County of Los Angeles and as Los Angeles Superior Court Arbitrator. Known for his ethics and ability to settle difficult cases, the Los Angeles County and Beverly Hills Bar Associations have each chosen Mr. Adelman to act as sole and panel chairperson of client fee disputes on over one hundred occasions. His resolution skills have also enabled him to work as mediator in the Central and Santa Monica branches of the Los Angeles Superior Court.

Mr. Adelman is individually "AV" rated by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest national distinction available to an attorney.  This is a significant honor, as only a handful of attorneys are bestowed with this rating each year for their commitment to professional standards and ethics and their outstanding legal ability.

Mr. Adelman lectures extensively to the other members of the profession in the areas of divorce, custody, child and spousal support, and attorney's fees. Mr. Adelman has been through his own divorce and understands well the emotional and psychological issues associated with marital dissolution. He is married and the father of two adult daughters.
