KEVIN R. McCONNELL, a graduate of the Catholic University of America (l973, Political Science) and the New York University School of Law (l976, J.D.) concentrates on tenants rights and cooperative and condominium law. He was a senior staff attorney in the Housing Unit of South Brooklyn Legal Services and is now a member of its Board of Directors. He has also served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Enforcement Division of the Bureau of Real Estate Financing, which regulates the offer and sale of cooperatives and condominiums. While an Assistant Attorney General he investigated and prosecuted civil and criminal violations of the conversion laws. Since leaving the Attorney General's office, he has represented tenants and tenants associations in all aspects of the conversion process as well as apartment corporations, condominium boards and shareholder groups and non-purchasing tenants after conversions. Kevin also reviews and negotiates commercial leases and, as necessary, litigates on behalf of commercial tenants. He has also served as a lecturer for the City of New York's Department for the Aging for their service providers on commercial leases and how to negotiate terms and conditions of the leases. Then Attorney General Cuomo appointed Kevin to his Real Estate Financing Working Group to advise on ways to improve the processing of co-op and condominium offerings and the enforcement of the relevant co-op and condo laws.
