Jim is a civil trial lawyer. He has handled litigation involving claims for fraud, negligence, negligent misrepresentation, professional liability (medical, legal, accounting, insurance agent and real estate agent), will contest, trade secrets, unfair competition, usury, breach of contract, tortious interference with contract, defamation, breach of fiduciary duty, injunctive relief, Deceptive Trade Practices Act, conspiracy, and many other types of claims in many areas and industries, including energy, software, real estate, insurance, health care providers, construction, governing documents of property owners’ associations, and many others. He is board certified in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in which he served as a member of the Advisory Commission from 1988 to 1999. He is a member of the Texas Association of Defense Counsel and American Board of Trial Advocates and the Houston, Texas and American Bar Associations. Since 2005 he has been designated as a Texas Monthly Law and Politics Super Lawyer as being in the top five percent of Texas lawyers as selected by members of the Texas Bar.
