Ms. McComsey was born in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, in December of 1975. She spent most of her childhood in Toms River, New Jersey, where she graduated from High School North in 1994.
She attended the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science (PCPS), now known as the University of the Sciences, and spent her summers lifeguarding at the beach in Lavallette, New Jersey. She completed undergraduate research in molecular biology under the direction of her genetics professor, while waiting tables at Chili's and volunteering at Mercy Hospital. Ms. McComsey graduated from PCPS with a B.S. in Biology in 1998.
Following graduation from PCPS, Ms. McComsey worked in the biotechnology industry. She performed DNA sequencing in the Gene Discovery Department of Human Genome Sciences in Rockville, Maryland. Subsequent to that, she worked at Neose Technologies in Horsham, Pennsylvania, where her research involved gene cloning, protein expression, enzymatic activity assay development, protein purification, enzymatic carbohydrate synthesis and carbohydrate purification.
In 2002, Ms. McComsey decided to pursue a legal career and began attending Seton Hall University School of Law. She was a member of the Intellectual Property Law Association, serving on the executive board each year and as President in her last year of law school. Attorney McComsey completed a concentration in intellectual property law and was nominated by the faculty for the 2005 Jan Jancin award for excellence in intellectual property.
Upon graduation from Seton Hall in May of 2005, she passed both the Pennsylvania and New Jersey bar examinations and completed a two-year clerkship for the Honorable Stephen G. Baratta in the Northampton Court of Common Pleas in Easton, Pennsylvania. Attorney McComsey is admitted to appear before the federal courts in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, as well as the United States Supreme Court.
In July of 2007, she joined Seidel Cohen Hof & Reid, LLC, as an associate attorney, where she concentrates in litigation.
Ms. McComsey is very active in the Northampton County Bar Association, the Bar Association of Lehigh County, and the community. She has been a member of the Northampton County Law Day Committee since 2005 and has volunteered at this annual event designed to educate local middle school children about our court system and the law. For years, she was quite active in the Operation Safe Surf Program, a program sponsored by the then Attorney General of Pennsylvania and local bar associations which was designed to educate children about dangers of using the Internet and social media sites in particular. Ms. McComsey served two years as Chair to the Young Lawyers Division of the Northampton County Bar Assocation. Ms. McComsey now also actively participates in the Inn of Courts in Lehigh County and the Lehigh Valley Women Lawyers Group.
In 2011-2012, she was selected by the Pennsylvania Bar Association as a member of the Bar Leadership Institute. She has since taken on a larger role in the Pennsylvania Bar Association as a Zone 2 Pennsylvania Bar Association Young Lawyers Division Chair.
Ms. McComsey has also participated in many local fundraising events in the last couple of years, including the Walk for a Healthy Community, the Lehigh Valley Pediactric Cancer Foundation Run, the American Heart Association Heart Walk, among others. More recently, she has joined and is actively contributing to the fundraising committee for SCAD Research, Inc., a non-profit organization focused on raising money for research of an unstudied and underdiagnosed heart condition, which predominantly strikes relatively young women and mothers, called sponataneous coronary artery dissection, or SCAD.
Ms. McComsey is a member of the St. Isidore Roman Catholic Church in Quakertown, Pennsylvania. She is married to David J. McComsey. They live in Milford Township, Pennsylvania, and are the proud parents of Kiera and Nathan McComsey.
