After graduating from Universidad Interamericana with a degree in Political Science, Jaime attended the University of Puerto Rico School of Law, where he participated in the Summer Law Program, University of Barcelona, Spain.
After graduation from law school, Jaime began his career in Virginia, where he investigated, prepared, and tried a variety of adult and juvenile criminal cases including attempted murder, rape, malicious wounding, drug distribution, DUI and other traffic matters. He drafted appellate briefs and argued before the Virginia Court of Appeals. He also handled divorce cases, including the drafting of Property Settlement Agreements.
Moving to Florida in 2003, Jaime was solely responsible for the representation of all criminal matters in his firm’s high volume Miami office. He investigated, prepared, and tried numerous misdemeanor and felony cases specializing in DUI and traffic related felonies, including DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide. He successfully litigated pre-trial motions which focused on constitutional Fourth Amendment issues.
A native speaker in both Spanish and English, he appeared as an expert on Spanish language television discussing proposed amendments to Florida’s DUI statute and the constitutionality of red light cameras. Jaime was a lecturer at continuing legal education courses: Advanced DUI Litigation on issues concerning the discovery process and application of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to DUI cases involving accidents.

Jaime brought his extensive experience to Cunha & Holcomb in September 2011. He is involved with our trial work, working on criminal, civil, and family law matters, as well as immigration cases.
