Jim Young has successfully represented clients in product liability and other actions in state and federal courts throughout the United States. He is particularly experienced in handling scientific, medical, and technical issues, as well as expert witnesses. Jim also has experience in litigation involving toxic tort, personal injury, environmental law, contract, real estate, malpractice, workplace intentional tort, patent infringement, labor, civil rights, and municipal law.
Jim has represented Parker Hannifin Corporation in several commercial aircraft cases, as well as R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in smoking and health litigation. He recently successfully defended a pro bono client in a major civil rights suit. As Law Director of the City of Cleveland, Jim supervised a staff of approximately 50 lawyers and was responsible for the prosecution and defense of all suits for and on behalf of the City.
Jim is a member of the ABA (Litigation Section), the Ohio State Bar Association, and the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association (Litigation Section and past chairman of the Professional Ethics Committee). He has been profiled in Who's Who in America and in many regional and specialized editions of Who's Who. Jim has been involved in a variety of public service activities. He chairs the pro bono and public service program for Jones Day's Cleveland Office. Jim recently completed a term on the Board on the Unauthorized Practice of Law of the Ohio Supreme Court.
