Christopher J. York is a founding Member of the Firm, McGahren, Gaskill & York, LLC. Mr. York has eighteen years of experience in casualty, product liability, insurance coverage, subrogation, civil litigation, real estate, commercial litigation, medical malpractice, corporate and real estate law. His practice has included extensive transactional work as Well as numerous first chair jury trials on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants in State and Federal courts. His practice emphasizes product liability, commercial litigation, subrogation, toxic tort and complex multi-district litigation, franchise dispute litigation and real estate transactions. Mr. York was appointed as Special Assistant Attorney General in a publicized toxic tort case. He also has experience with focus group presentations and jury research. He has presented client and firm seminars on various topics. Mr. York has successfully mediated and resolved numerous cases through alternative dispute resolution. He also extensively counsels manufacturing, corporate and insurance clients. In addition to extensive trial and appellate experience in Georgia, Mr. York has been admitted pro hac vice for trials in Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina and Alabama.
Prior to forming Gaskill York, LLC in 2003, Mr. York was General Counsel and Executive VP Corporate Affairs of Graham-Field Health Products, Inc. a national manufacturer and distributor of medical products with average sales of $80M to $l00M annually and over 500 employees. In that capacity, Mr. York was a member of the Company senior management team. He advised the Company regarding major transactional issues, the sale of Company assets, real estate and Company contracts. As General Counsel, Mr. York managed Graham-Field's extensive litigation and risk management function, as well as Graham-Field's IP and insurance portfolios.
Prior to Graham-Field, Mr. York was a member of the firm Cozen O'Connor, an AV rated Philadelphia based law firm with over 450 lawyers where he specialized in insurance litigation including subrogation, medical malpractice, general liability and product liability litigation. Prior to 1995, Mr. York was an associate with the Atlanta firm Whitehurst and Frick, P.C., a firm that specialized in medical malpractice and insurance defense. Mr. York is a certified lead counsel before all State courts in Georgia. He is admitted to all State and Federal courts in Georgia. From 1986 to 1988, Mr. York was a Field Claims Representative with Sentry Insurance Company.
Mr. York is member of the State Bar of Georgia, the American Bar Association and the Gwinnett County Bar Association. He was also a Barrister with the Bleckley Inn of Court during 2001; 2002.
Mr. York attended Nicolas Cusanus Gymnasium in Bad Godesberg, Germany, from 1978 through 1981, where he was elected "Klassensprecher." He is fluent in German.
