Julia joined L&A in August 2010. She previously worked at the firm as a summer associate, and was involved in a number of patent matters, including drafting new applications, responding to office actions, and performing prior art and freedom-to-operate searches.
Before entering the field of intellectual property law, Julia was a Field Sales Engineer for the semiconductor manufacturer, Avago Technologies. At Avago, Julia was responsible for designing-in components for a variety of technologies, including fiber optics, ASICS, LEDs and other optoelectronics. She subsequently worked as a Product Manager at Newton Peripherals, a consumer electronics start up, acquired by ID8-Mobile. At Newton, she helped manage production of new product builds in China, as well as world wide shipment and support of existing products.
Julia has a passion for pro bono assistance, and has previously interned with Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts of Massachusetts (VLA), an organization dedicated to providing pro bono legal services to artists and arts organizations. While working with the VLA, Julia was involved in a variety of trademark and copyright matters, including filing applications, responding to trademark office actions, and drafting license agreements.
