Upon graduating from law school, Thomas L. Wyatt served as a law clerk for two years for the Honorable Hershel P. Franks of the Tennessee Court of Appeals. He then joined the firm now known as Summers and Wyatt, P.C., where he has primarily represented injured persons in the fields of workers' compensation law, personal injury law, and Social Security Disability law. Mr. Wyatt has spoken on the subject of workers' compensation law before numerous professional and civic groups, including the Chattanooga Area Labor Council, The Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association and the Chattanooga Manufacturers Association. Mr. Wyatt has been lead counsel in a number of cases establishing important elements of workers' compensation and tort law in Tennessee. Mr. Wyatt successfully prosecuted what is thought to be the first workers' compensation award based on "white lung" in favor of a worker employed in a Tennessee textile plant. Mr. Wyatt established on appeal the rebuttable presumption favoring liability under the Tennessee Permission Use Statute when an automobile dealership allows a potential customer to test-drive overnight a vehicle owned by the dealership.
Mr. Wyatt is married to Linda, a Certified Public Accountant, and is the proud father of two grown sons. He is an active member of the Signal Mountain Baptist Church, where he serves as a deacon and Sunday School teacher.
