Mr. Martin, a Martindale-Hubble AV Preeminent 5.0 out of 5 rated attorney, represents a wide variety of clients in both state and federal court in the areas of commercial law, employment law, environmental law, and insurance defense and coverage litigation, including bad faith actions. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Martin served a two-year clerkship with the Honorable Harold R. Ryan, United States District Court, District of Idaho. Mr. Martin was honored by Chambers & Partners for his knowledge and experience in the area of Commercial Litigation, and in 2007 was listed in The Best Lawyers in America for his work in Insurance Law. Mr. Martin was also honored as the "2007 Court Appointed Special
Advocate Volunteer Attorney of the Year" for the Family Advocate Program".
Mr. Martin is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Idaho, the United States District Court for the District of Idaho, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He is a member of the American Bar Association and its Litigation Section, the Idaho State Bar Association and the Federal Bar Association. In 2003 he was appointed by the Idaho State Bar to serve a three-year term on its Professional Conduct Board. Mr. Martin is also a member of the Federal Court Local Rules Committee for the District of Idaho, the Idaho Association of Defense Counsel, and the Meridian, Idaho, Chamber of Commerce. Jim is also a Charter Member of the Boise Centennial Rotary. He is an officer of the Fourth District Bar Association, a member of the American Inns of Court Alumni Association, and also is a past Idaho State Representative for the Defense Research Institute.
Mr. Martin is one of the authors of the recently updated Idaho chapter in the ABA publication "A State-by-State Guide to Construction & Design Law", 2nd Ed.
Mr. Martin received his undergraduate degree from Boise State University and his law degree from the University of Idaho in 1990 where he was editor-in chief of the Idaho Law Review.
