I started South Texas College of Law at 32 years old as the single mother of a then 5 year old kindergartener. I worked at least one, and sometimes as many as four, jobs throughout my law school years. I worked multiple jobs while making the Dean's List twice and winning several mock trial awards. I successfully completed law school in May 1997, but my son was my priority. I realized that while awards, good grades and education are extremely important, I also had a young son who needed my time and who had to be supported. Balancing work, school and raising a healthy child has given me a real sense of the struggles single or divorced parents go through and the stress of juggling all these things.
I have drawn on my past experiences to create and maintain the passion that is my family law practice. I focus on zealous representation of the "right" parent or party in a given family law case. I never forget who I work for - the client and their interests and children. I give my client my best advice as to how each Dallas, Tarrant, Brazos or Harris County court would likely rule on the issues at hand based on the known facts and the evidence that will be admitted. I educate my client on the myriad of legal issues in a divorce, custody case, or modification of visitation or child support. I work hard to meet my client's goals for his or her life as well as the children involved. I pride myself on my work ethic and morals.
Long after I am no longer part of my client's life, many times my client still has to deal with the other parent or spouse. Intensifying the difficulties between them is not my goal. On the other hand, I am absolutely comfortable in the courtroom and welcome the opportunity to try a good case for the "right" client.
I have listed some of my academic achievements below. They may be of interest to you in deciding whether you would like to consult with me on your case. Because I want you to be able to evaluate whether you want to hire me and I want to be able to decide if I want to represent you, I offer a free consultation. At the end of that consultation, I can tell you whether or not I can represent you, generally how the process works and estimate the attorney's fees and costs.
