Joshua was born in Indiana, but he considers Florence, Alabama home. In Florence, Joshua attended the University of North Alabama, where he studied Politics and History, and was involved in activities such as the Student Government Association, Mock Trials, and the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. During his time in college, Joshua, like his partner, Anthony Michel, learned the value of a dollar. Joshua worked summers and weekends on construction sites and in restaurants to help cover the costs of his education. His experiences working for others during and after college helped him decide to devote his professional life to helping employees.
After graduating from the Cumberland School of Law, Joshua spent several years working as a civil defense attorney. Joshua gained a great deal of experience working for a large Birmingham, Alabama, civil defense firm before opening Wrady & Michel. There, he often defended employers in cases where they had been accused of fostering discriminatory policies, or permitting sexual harassment in the workplace. Relying on his past experiences, and believing he could do more good by working for employees, rather than employers and corporations, he left the large firm to represent employees subjected to unfair, abusive, and illegal treatment. His experience defending employers provides his employment clients with a significant advantage in negotiations and in litigation.
Joshua loves practicing law and the freedom he experiences from being a small business owner. He is motivated and encouraged daily by witnessing the good and gracious work performed by lawyers in the Birmingham community.
