Bill is the fourth generation of his family to join the legal profession. After receiving his undergraduate degree from Alma College in Michigan (with double Majors in History and Business after only three years of study), Bill attended law school at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Bill excelled in law school where he was an editor of the Law Review and graduated cum laude in 1987.
After law school, Bill started his career in litigation with the largest law firm in North Carolina. Eventually, Bill decided to leave the big firm to practice law in a small construction law firm in Durham, North Carolina. Bill has concentrated his practice in construction law and litigation since 1990 and has achieved excellent results for his clients, in and out of court and arbitration, ever since.
In recent years, Bill has represented many contractors in administrative proceedings and law suits against the North Carolina Department of Transportation. Bill also represents clients in disputes over private construction projects and his litigation experience includes overseeing and implementing complex commercial litigation in multiple forums and foreign countries at the same time. Bill is also known for continuing his work upon recovery of a judgment. If a judgment he has won for a client is not paid, Bill will aggressively seek collection as well. Likewise, Bill is also experienced at handling State and Federal Appeals and prosecuting claims in Bankruptcy Court, should the need arise.
